Landmines
down the steps
out into the sunshine
into the chemical mist
unexpected, deadly, unseen
taking with it
a life once fully lived
the landscape forever changed
the world no longer
welcoming
with days spent
dodging chemical landmines
and the stupidity
of the unaffected

in the darkeness that is night
the wind whispered in my ear
i rose dancing to it’s crisp crescendo
